“Let the past die. Kill it if you have to. It’s the only way to become who you were really meant to be.”
Kylo Ren – Star Wars: Episode VII – The Last Jedi
So this is where I am. For those in my circle, they know that the past year or so has been a crazy whirlwind of emotions…highs, lows, in betweens. Such is the case with major life changes, and it can do a real number on you if you’re not ready to withstand the onslaught.
This new website is part of the journey. I killed the last site to bring forth new ideas, new thoughts, new concepts, a new online presence, a new me. I killed past memories, both good and bad, in an effort to make room for things to come, and it’s already begun. A new sense of self, a new feeling of freedom, and the room to breathe have all started flooding in, filling in the gaps of the aftermath. It’s a good thing.
As I focus my attention inwards, I’m making a desperate attempt to reconnect with songwriting. Sure, I’m still writing…I haven’t stopped. But actually finding the confidence, discipline, and courage to actually take those ideas and fully develop them so that others hear them…well, that has been challenging to say the least. And times are a changin’; and I’m beginning to wake up.
I’ve been collecting some equipment up so that I can share video and audio of me noodling on guitar, both electric and acoustic, and I’ll even sing a little bit. My hope is that this will keep me engaged and focused on taking those existing songs, along with songs that have yet to be written, and birthing them into the world.
Stay tuned…
